August 11, 2011
You are invited to the first ever T-Splines for Rhino Level II Training/user group meeting. This will be a combination of hands-on training in the morning (computers will be provided) and user presentations in the afternoon. Come hone your T-Splines skills and network with other users. Seating for this event is extremely limited and the price is rock bottom, thanks to 3DTechnics for sponsoring and hosting this event. Tentative scheduleThursday, August 11, 2011Morning session (level II training)9 AM – 1 PMHands-on modeling sessionWe will review five T-Splines workflows and work though exercises with each workflow from the T-Splines training manual. Computers will be provided. Rhino files with the steps saved in the layers will be made available to the participants. As this is a level II course, it is assumed that the participants have spent time modeling with T-Splines before. You will be most prepared for the class if you have previously attended a Level I live T-Splines training class. Also, if you complete the material and tutorials in the T-Splines starter guide, this will also be a suitable foundation for the class. The emphasis of the course will go beyond just the mechanics of the program, and with each model, we will be focusing on effective ways to make iterations on the model, how to lay out the appropriate T-Splines topology, and how to practice proper model management to get optimal performance when working with T-Splines for Rhino. Lunch (provided)1 PM – 2 PMAfternoon session (user group meeting)2 PM – 5 PMHow to think as a T-Splines modelerKyle Houchens is the owner of The Outside Digital Art & Design, an authorized T-Splines trainer, and uses both T-Splines and Rhino NURBS daily in production models. There is a place for both T-Splines and NURBS in most models, and Kyle will share strategies that he uses professionally to maximize both tools. T-Splines is a powerful tool in your toolbox, but just like you use a hammer differently than you use a screwdriver, it’s important to understand the strengths and intended uses of both program to use them effectively. Precision modeling with T-SplinesSky Greenawalt, owner of School Street Design Company, writes a blog where he posts about his experiences using T-Splines to design and manufacture experimental aircraft parts. During his presentation, Sky will share completed T-Splines projects that convinced him to never model another aircraft in NURBS again. He will also talk about his success in predictably achieving his machining tolerances with T-Splines for the airfoils of manufactured aircraft. Beyond T-Splines 3 for RhinoThe focus of T-Splines, Inc. has always been to provide industry leading tools for organic and freeform design for manufacturing. Matt Sederberg, founding CEO of T-Splines, Inc., will give an inside peak into what’s next. T-Splines tips and tricksTime saving and non-obvious ways to us the program, submitted and shared by users on the T-Splines forum and T-Splines Facebook page. Other user presentations TBAIf you will be in Vancouver and would like to share some of the T-Splines work you have done, please contact us to get on the schedule!
