Using T-Splines to convert from subds to nurbs has been well-tested by designers and artists for years. The conversion is trivial -- just the push of a button! The quality of the NURBS surfaces generated is very good and suitable for use in CAD modeling applications. Advanced conversion controls are included. You can now license this Subd to NURBS for your NURBS-based or subdivision surface-based software to let your users reuse their digital assets.

Differentiate your subdivision surface modeler or CAD software! Integrate Subd to NURBS today to help your users close the gap between DCC and CAD.

Robust

The code behind Subd to NURBS is tested every day by thousands of users of our end user products. It has been developed and improved for over five years, and is on the fourth version of the code.

Simple

With the Subd to NURBS T-Tool, conversion is push-button. Can't get more simple than that!

Quality

Subd to NURBS will convert subdivision surfaces to a set of c2 smooth NURBS surfaces. At star points, where the surface is non-rectangular, the NURBS will be g1, smooth enough for an offset.

Advanced options

If the subdivision surface or .obj mesh to be converted is not clean or well laid-out, options are included for the user to clean up the file by reflowing edge loops, removing stacked faces, welding naked edges, etc. Additionally, if a specific NURBS patch layout is desired, the user can specify how the the subdivision surface will be split into NURBS.

Features

  • Convert subdivision surfaces and .obj meshes to NURBS polysurfaces
  • User can determine the NURBS patch layout
  • Model clean-up: user can reflow the topology for cleaner NURBS patches
  • C2 smooth everywhere, G1 in isolated parts of the model
  • This means that the surface can still be offset
  • Works with quad-dominant meshes - some triangles in the mesh is okay
  • NURBS output: 3dm, IGES, STEP
  • T-splines have been used to convert subdivision surfaces to NURBS for eventual production use in SolidWorks, Inventor, Pro/E, Revit, SpaceClaim, etc.

More examples

Here are just a few additional examples of how the T-Tools Subd to NURBS module can be used to convert subdivision surface models to NURBS.

Want to see more examples?

Download our free T-Spline model pack. These are all subdivision surface or T-spline models. If you open the models in any program that doesn't have T-Splines installed, you will see the models automatically converted to NURBS. Want to see your own subdivision surface model converted to NURBS? Download the T-Splines for Rhino plugin, or contact us to discuss.
