T-Splines Rhino Merging + Remove Creases Movie
Commentary below
| |
This video shows T-Splines' ability to facilitate a branching topology and create a single smoothed surface from patches.
A stylized wrench, which has exaggerated gaps between the patches, is merged together.
After the merge, the residual creases between the patches are still present. So, using the tsRemoveCrease command, we select all the creases and delete them at once.
The object still appears to have some tangency problems at the star points (where five patches had originally met.) However, the surface is in fact smooth there. By default, T-Splines are displayed coarsely, to maximize speed. By increasing the smoothness (tsSetStarSmoothness), a more accurate representation of the surface appears, and the surface is shown to be smooth.
Finally, the star point is moved, showing that the shape keeps continuity and deforms well.
