Drag mode not working

A support and feedback forum for Autodesk T-Splines Plug-in for Rhino users.

Drag mode not working

Postby Johnny » Tue Jan 10, 2012 4:14 pm

Hi there!

I don't know what I did because the 'drag mode' is not working anymore.
All the options in 'drag mode' have the same result. The object (I'm trying to move) is moving in the same four direction (only) in all cases.

What to do?

Thank's!

Hi Johnny,

Hmmm... sounds strange.

So, I believe that T-Splines is only changing (and responding to) the Rhino Drag Mode settings.

Have you tried changing them using the DragMode command? Is the drag mode only broken when using the T-Splines manipulator, or if you try to drag a NURBS control point directly does it respond to the current DragMode setting?

It's moving the object (points, etc.) in those same four directions even I turn the object upside down or whatever.
Strange(?).

When I change the dragmode of the Tsplines manipulator and then return to the Rino-dragmode without re-setting the Tsplines dragmode to C-plane, things get messed up.

Returning to the Tsplines manipulator and setting dragmode back to C-plane again solves the problem.
It happens all the time here, maybe this is the same as what you see.

I opened the Rhino but the Drag Mode seems to be on C-plane mode already.
..and the problem is still there.

Maybe this is more like a Rhino Problem?
Even when moving the object only in Rhino, it's moving in those same four direction only (compared to the green and red line).

If jou set the Tsplines dragmode to C, return to Rhino drag mode and change the dragmode one or two times, will that help?

Just to be sure: what do You mean by 'Rhino' Drag Mode?
Is it some different Drag Mode than the one used in T-splines?

(I'm not on my 'broken-Drag-Mode-computer' at the moment).

With beiing in Rhino dragmode I mean: TsEditMode = Disabled

When I have problems with dragmode, this helps me out:

First with TsEditmode enabled, set dragmode of the TsManipulator to C.
Then disable TsEditmode.
With TsEditMode disabled execute _Dragmode, and choose the option _World.
Execute _Dragmode again and choose _CPlane.

Hope this helps you too.

Johnny,

Does this mean that you still are stuck with a not-working dragmode?
And no reply on your question on this forum since a week?

Please let me know how this ended for you.

Erik Hondebrink

P.S. Have you checked if the retopology snap is on or off?

Erik, I quess You ment Retopology Snap TOGGLE?
I tried that and 'Ortho' as well, but nothing seems to help...

It propably is some button which I have mistakenly pushed.
(In Options..?).

Thank's for the tips, anyway!

Hello Johnny,

Another thing that often blocks dragging is a (controlpolygon?)mesh that exists after using cages.
In my case this mesh is not allways visible in every viewport, but it makes dragging verts etc. impossible.
Execute _SelMesh , and delete what's selected. Maybe not visible in the viewport, but if anything gets selected you can see it in the command line.

P.S. When these meshes exist, displayModes of the Tspline surfaces that are connected with these meshes become corrupted.

Ok. Have to translate all the words (because of my English) and try... :)

As a quick response: this happens even I open a new Rhino document and make a tsBox in T-spline (I've done that for several times - with the same result).
