Thanks for the webinar; very interesting.
I tried ZBrush after watching Travis Serios' webinar last fall. ZBrush is amazing but VERY different for a Rhino/TSplines user.
What bothers me about ZBrush, as well as other popular modeling programs such as Modo, is- they have no scale! Nothing has a definite size, a part can't be 3.76" X 13.79", all that matters is proportion.
I drew the Piper Cub shown in another thread for exporting to ZBrush- it's all qads, and I tried to create relatively square qads by adding extra edges. Exporting as a box mode obj, it imported into ZBrush intact and with all the parts in the correct places, and the reverse worked as well. From this experiment, it seems an obj model contains "physical" size information and location relative to the origin. Is this a good assumption?

OBJ files have no concept of units, unfortunately. I think Rhino brings them into whatever unit system your current file is.

For example, if you export a cube that's 10 cm across from a 3dm that's using cm as its unit system, and then import it into a 3dm that's using inches, you'll get a cube that's 10 inches across.

Then a model is the same regardless of the units assigned- Rhino simply applies labels of inches, meters, etc. ZBrush, as an "artistic" program, thus does not assign units, or even provide numerical values for coordinates. Interesting.
Thanks, Tom.

Right, if the main output is a picture, then the units don't really matter that much.. it's only if you're actually trying to make one.
