TS to the Rescue!

Postby Kev » Wed Oct 27, 2010 1:40 pm

What a relief to have an incredible addition for jewelry modeling. Not a day goes by where Tsplines isn't apart of my workflow for jewelry making. This elephant pin which I created from a clients photograph took about 1.5hrs to whip together.

Thanks again Matt and the gang for such a great tool set.

Thanks Matt,

Yeah, I'm going to start sharing some finish pics more now. I've been burried in developing my selling libraries that I haven't taken time to render models to share. I'll get some more models over here for you guys.

Scroll city with Tsplines. Not a day goes by where Tsplines isn't the hero. If I had to give up any tools, you'd have to pry Tsplines from the clutches of my hands. You can have everything else, but you'll never get Tsplines from me. LOL!

Kevin,

You just made my day posting this stuff. Gorgeous work. I love that butterfly. T-Splines doesn't draw attention to itself at all -- just a very nice natural model made by a great designer. Hope you're well!

Thanks Matt,

Yeah, I've been flying under the radar lately. Went through a robbery last month and some other stuff. Been a bit quiet. Beginning to get my sea legs back under me again. NO Joke though, I really don't know what I'd do anymore without you guys brilliant work. I love the software and I'd give up Matrix well before you could ever take Tsplines from me. It just fits how I like to work. I can't wait for version 3 final release.

Here's another example where Tsplines completely rules. We do a bunch of remount work where we take customer's stones and re-style them into wearable pieces. This free-form pendant is all one piece outside the stones and prongs. I save these models as Tsplines so that I have what I call smart models. By saving my geometry and cataloging it, I now have live models that can be adjusted or manipulated to appeal to different clients or so that I can accomedate their particular stones. Just something that I'm doing.

Hi,
You have a very good grasp of design and modeling not mentioning taste.
Your rendering might need some work though. Do you use matrix? you can find better hdris on the net. (type free studio hdri, you might have to look for them for a bit or i can send them to you if you like) It might also be your materials.(WG) don't make them too reflective. I generally work with .95 or less depending on the design, with two layers depending on the machine i work on.
It's nice to see someone with the understanding and practicality of jewellery. I hope you have the best of fun with Tsplines and Vray to make it true.

Kind regards,

Jean

Hi Jean,

Thank you for the kind words. Rendering has never been my specialty. I do need to spend more time on that aspect. I normally just apply materials with whatever hdri that's easy and handy, then hit Go. I appreciate your suggestions. I certainly would be interested in the hdr's that you use.

And yes, I do use Matrix.
