I FIRST TIME USE T-SPLINES

Postby 82200225 » Sat Sep 26, 2009 12:11 am

Hello everyone,
I am a chinese,so my english is not good in enough to express what I mean.
It`s my first time modeling in T SPLINES and the same in rhino.
I found that t splines more difficult than the rhino.
I most want to know how to deal with the relationship betweenis T point and STAR point .
And where can use triangular surface ,where can use quadrilateral surface.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

How you say the organic modelling with T-Splines is difficult.
I learned very much with a large and analitic study of the manual...and an english dictionary near:)!

Thank you bobro..

I said organic modelling with T-Splines is difficult,Because when I converted from a T-point to a star point ,I found that the star point found no way to and from star point to T-point.While the star point will appear very sharp in part, that's not what I want.

That is why I do the same model, feel rhino easier than the T-Splines.
I really hope you can help to solve my doubts.Thanks.

hello 82...
our english is a problem :D !I don't understand parts ...if you talk about images or in general'?!...I pray other persons contest you if it is posible.
For many reasons T-splines(and star points) is better of Rhino for most "very organic" design especially where we have legs, ronded tips, y-branch, special holes for organic editing...and generally
alls organic form where we will have one surface only and very light( less control points for merit of t-points )

There are also limitations so ...."if posible"..
the GOLDEN RULE with T-splines is:
pag 74 of the manual -

"use Star-Points, triangles and n-sided faces only where necesary"

Hi,

If you are Chinese, I would recommend asking about T-Splines on Surface3D's forum--they are pretty helpful over there (I hope it's the same kind of Chinese that you speak):

About the relationship between a T-point and a star point, I would recommend reading the section on this in the T-Splines manual--there are a lot of pictures, too. If you have a specific question, let me know. Also, in general you should always use a quadrilateral surface because it will be smoother than a triangular face. Triangle faces smooth as though they have a star point in the middle, which is g1 (tangent continuous) smooth, while quad faces are smoother in the middle.
