Custom joints for tsPipe

Postby shalabuda » Tue Oct 18, 2016 7:31 pm

What is the format for custom joints for tsPipe? How do I import? I tried the manual and tutorials, but couldn't find the answer to this.

I need to create a connector that would work well for 12 outgoing edges (think of vertices of an icosahedron). Right now T-splines hangs Rhino when I try to run tsPipe on 12 edges emanating from a point.

To make a custom joint set I tried to create a dodecahedron (as a set of closed curves, as a solid, mesh, etc) with 12 points in the centers of the faces and one in the center of the polyhedron, and import this as a joint type when running tsPipe on 12 lines emanating from a point. Rhino crashed every time I'd try to do import. What exactly is the procedure for making custom joints?

Thanks, JuanS!

I'd missed the fact that the faces need to be squares. I added squares on each face of my dodecahedron, and I was able to import my joints.

I still have some troubles though:

1. tsPipe still makes rhino non responsive if I run it on 12 edges with one common end point

2. How do I make my joint solid? I want my polyhedron to appear as a joint, the same ways as cube appears as a joint in Squared joint type. Right now I can only get open ended pipes like here:
