A hole with round corners

A hole with round corners

Postby Johnny » Sat May 26, 2012 3:59 pm

Hi there!

I started a chair and came up with a very basic problem:
how to make round corners around the hole in a T-splines surface?
The file is attached (there is no shape yet - just the basic surface).

The creasing is a problem as well - in the front and the bottom of the chair.
How to get rid of that?

Thank's guys!

Hi Johnny,

something went wrong with your file - it's only a picture (file is missing) :?

for round corners around a hole in a T-Splines surface:
activate the edges around the hole and use tsExtrude :tsExtrude: command

regards,
Saskia

I sent only the picture - just to show what the problem 'looks like'.
I'm searching for some basic principles how to make round corners and how to avoid the creasing. In this case they seemed to go hand in hand.
Looks like I just got the answer! :D

So simple - thank's, Saskia!

The corners become round indeed.
I wonder how to make them 'almost' angular? So that they would be something like in the picture - BUT with just a very smal curve in the corners?

(= How to control the amount of the bending?).

Johnny,

Basic T-Splines/NURBS principle: if you want something with tighter curvature, move the control points closer together there (or add more if you need to).

Unfortunately, I don't think we have any more specific tools to have you do this than just moving control points, or adding them via insert edge, insert point, or subdivide face.
