T-Splines 2.0 WIP #9

Postby Matt Sederberg » Sat Oct 11, 2008 9:08 am

T-Splines 2.0 WIP 9 for Rhino is now available. T-Splines primitives have been added to the plugin, there is a new subdivide face command, and most effort has gone to bug fixing and polishing current commands. Watch a 5 minute highlight video here: http://media.tsplines.com/WIP9.mov

This is NOT the latest commercial update of T-Splines version 1. You should not use this work-in-progress (WIP) for production. However, if you're interested in giving input into the next release of T-Splines, go ahead and install this (you will first need a full T-Splines license installed). There are still many known crashers in the WIP.

All T-Splines updates, including this WIP, may be downloaded here: http://www.tsplines.com/latestversion.html .
Please note that the download requires a different account than your forum account. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Here are the latest improvements:
1. Rearranged toolbar
2. T-Splines primitives
3. A new subdivide face command
4. Bugfixes, etc.

1. First of all, we've rearranged the toolbar slightly, so the commands are now better grouped by function, with flyout toolbars revealing additional commands for creating T-Splines primitives and special tools that only work in T-Splines mesh mode.

2. T-Spline primitives are a new addition to this version of the plugin, and they make it easier to create a T-Spline. The primitives include boxes, cylinders, spheres, cones, torii, and planes. The primitives initially look like meshes, but as you enter the T-Splines edit mode, you can toggle them to a smooth preview by hitting TAB. Also, outside of the edit mode, you can view these primitives as a smooth T-Spline by hitting this icon.

Primitives can also be created with symmetry built in. Both axial and radial symmetry are available on most primitives. Symmetry can of course be turned off with the tsMSymmetryOff command.

3. The new tsmSubdivideFace command subdivides each selected face into four faces.

4. There have been many bugfixes, especially with symmetry and converting from smooth to polymode.

Ricardo (and all),

We fixed this crasher, as well as a number of other crashers that were mainly affecting going from poly mode to smooth preview.

I've gone ahead and uploaded a new WIP 9B; this is a minor release that only has these crashers fixed. It can be downloaded at http://www.tsplines.com/latestversion.html
