Creasing inwards...

A support and feedback forum for Autodesk T-Splines Plug-in for Rhino users.

Creasing inwards...

Postby ricardo » Tue Sep 19, 2006 9:49 am

I'm trying to add a crease to a line witch is a valley in the surface but I can't seem to get it done. Tryied to use the '-1' factor but nothing came out. When the lines are hills everything is ok.

Thanks,

Ricardo

Ricardo,

I tried reproducing this and here are my thoughts:

When you are trying to crease a line in a "valley," then it makes a sharp "canyon" by default. You can move the CVs and pull them up to change the direction of the crease.

The "-1" factor doesn't change the direction of the crease; rather, it creases the base of the hill instead of the peak. I've attached a screenshot explaining this.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks,
Matt

Well, that's not it, but learned something new.

I did some more testing and found that when I crease a line that ends in an edge the edge is not creased. The opposite of that merging/uncreasing bug from the previous beta. The edge gets creased but softens close to the last vertex.

Yep--I found that bug myself while I was making these screenshots. On to the bug tracker it goes...

I've writen this was OK, but it seems not - I still have creases dimming close to surface edges.

I'll send a file...

Yeah, this isn't fixed yet

I haven't added creasing all the way to the edge of the surface yet.

Removing creases that are close to the edge of the surface should be working now, but that's not quite the same thing.

All my bad, sorry... the mouth was quickier than the head (fingers this case...) but creasing inwards is giving better results in my geometry anyway.
