Two more movies (creasing and extrusion)

Postby Matt Sederberg » Fri Sep 01, 2006 3:30 pm

Here are two simple movies that show creasing and extrusion. These movies are intended for reference in anticipation of the closed beta release later today.

Creasing
After accessing the T-Splines Crease command, two edges are selected and creased. This adds two partial isoparms, one on each side of the selected edges. To pull the crease away from the surface, control points are turned on, and the middle control points are moved vertically.

To show that the crease does not extend across the surface, control points further down the isoparm are moved; the surface is shown to be smooth at these points

Extrusion
After the T-Splines Extrusion command is selected, any number (in this case two) of face groups are selected on the plane. Next, the user is propted to select the direction and magnitude of the extrusion. Extrusion, unlike creasing, adds geometry to the model. The surface is still continuous and can be edited.

I don't usually get that excited about software but the crease function is astonishing. I can't wait to try this.

Cheers,

Hi,

I cannot see that movies. When I open that links my IE crashes. I have Quick Time player 7.0.3.

Is it possible to get a link to download the *.mov files zipped?

Thanks and regards,

Carlos Pérez

I have posted the zipped movie files under a new thread with that name.

Thanks,
