T-splines designs can be exported for manufacturing without needing to be remodeled. This is because all T-spline surfaces can be converted exactly to smooth, water-tight manufacturable NURBS. This is a push-button operation.

Iron casting

To make the chairs in Blackpool's restored Grand Theatre look convincingly antique, a very organic shape was required for a critical part of the armrest. By using T-splines for Rhino, the organic piece was not merely visualized on the computer, but it was manufactured from the CAD model along with the rest of the chair.

Rapid prototyping with Solidscape

T-splines can be rapid prototyped by any machine that reads in Rhino .3dm files, including Solidscape machines.

Production tooling

The original design for the PC Pillow product was built in a subdivision surface modeler, imported and converted to a T-Splines model, and then converted to a NURBS model to build the production tooling. Prior to using T-Splines for Rhino, the designer would have had to rebuild the model from scratch in a NURBS modeler for manufacturing.
