| Exporting T-splines for manufacturing |

T-splines designs can be exported for manufacturing without needing to be remodeled. This is because all T-spline surfaces can be converted exactly to smooth, water-tight manufacturable NURBS. This is a push-button operation. Export to SolidWorksWatch this video to see how to bring T-splines models into SolidWorks. Iron castingTo make the chairs in Blackpool's restored Grand Theatre look convincingly antique, a very organic shape was required for a critical part of the armrest. By using T-splines, the organic piece was not merely visualized on the computer, but it was manufactured from the CAD model along with the rest of the chair.
Rapid prototyping with SolidscapeT-splines can be rapid prototyped by any machine that reads in Rhino .3dm files, including Solidscape machines.
Production toolingThe original design for the PC Pillow product was built in a subdivision surface modeler, imported and converted to a T-Splines model, and then converted to a NURBS model to build the production tooling. Prior to using T-Splines, the designer would have had to rebuild the model from scratch in a NURBS modeler for manufacturing.
