Truly watertight
Creating a T-spline model, even with complex curvature, can be done in a matter of minutes. All T-spline models are watertight by default, with smooth transitions even where the surface is not rectangular.
Complex models as a single surface
You can create your model as a single T-Spline surface, such as this jewelry piece. T-Splines can be manufactured by any process that uses NURBS or stl meshes.
Mechanical detailing with Rhino
You can also use T-splines to create the main form of the model. Because T-splines is fully integrated into Rhino, you can then leverage Rhino tools, such as bosses, ribs, and fillets to add detailing and mechanical parts.
More design iterations
Creating organic shapes with multiple NURBS patches can be tedius and difficult. T-Splines gives a smooth watertight model that is editable at any time. This allows you to make many design iterations in T-splines and be more responsive to your clients.
Special technology
Technically, this is made possible by NURBS-compatible enhancements found only in T-splines, including:
- T-Points, which allow you to have areas of high detail and low detail smoothly connected in the same surface, such as this disappearing chine.
- Star points, which allow single T-splines to have expressive, non-rectangular shapes without resorting to trimming. These models are continuous shapes that can be edited at any time.
- Tangency handles, which control the tangency of T-splines at creases and at the edge of the surface.
