Contest description
The T-Splines Design Contest 2011, Make the World a Better Place, is designed to promote the creation of new and innovative 3D designs using T-Splines for Rhino and tsElements for SolidWorks. All design entries should reflect the theme of the contest, demonstrating a potential to improve the world in some way. Prizes will be awarded to those individuals or teams who submit the best designs, as measured by the judging criteria. View the T-Splines 2010 design contest submissions.

Rules
- Individuals must be at least 13 years old to enter the contest.
- All designs submitted must be original work of the entrant.
- Designs may not have been previously published before 9 June 2011.
- Individuals or teams of up to 4 people may submit designs.
- There is no limit to how many designs each individual or team may submit into the contest.
- Must use T-Splines for a significant part of the model.
- All entries must be in English.
- All designs must be submitted between 12:00am MDT June 22, 2011 and 11:59pm MDT August 9, 2011.
- Illegible, unintelligible, crude, incomplete, or garbled entries will be disqualified.
Submission requirements
All submissions must be made through the submission page between 12:00am MDT June 15, 2011 and 11:59pm MDT August 9, 2011. Please use separate submissions for each design.
- Model: Final model can be a T-Splines, Rhino, or SolidWorks file. If the final model is in a different format and is no longer a T-Splines surface, you have to also include a .3dm file of the final T-Splines surface before you converted to NURBS. T-Splines software must be used at some point in your model creation.
- Render(s): Include a final render of the model. You may optionally include up to five renders.
- To ensure unbiased judging, design files should not have your name or any indication of identity visible.
- If you want credits on your images, please attach a separate file with your signature displayed on the lower right corner of the image.
- Explanation: Write up an explanation of how you modeled your design, explaining the software used to model and render your design and why T-Splines was useful in the process. 700 words maximum.
*Each design entered will need to fill out a separate submission.
Judging
Read the judges' bios. Each design will be judged by a panel of experts based on the following criteria:
Design - 33%
- Is the concept interesting?
- Does the design look good?
- Is the design functional?
- Could the design be manufactured?
- Does the design address the contest theme, Make the World a Better Place?
Model - 50%
- Does the model have clean geometry, with proper continuity, no naked edges, correct Booleans, etc.?
- How accurate and detailed is the model?
- How effectively is T-Splines used in the model?
Render - 17%
- Does the render as a whole look good?
- How is the design presented in a scene?
- Does the lighting highlight the model?
- How well are materials used?

Legal
By participating in this Contest, you agree and hereby grant T-Splines, Inc. and the contest partners permission to use and make available images or renders of your submissions and any text descriptions provided to the public for any purpose, such as, but not limited to, press and media communications or use in marketing material, without further compensation to you. You retain all rights to the design and the model. You do not grant T-Splines, Inc. or contest partners permission to distribute your CAD model. If you choose to receive a 3D print of your model, you grant the company providing the print (3D Systems, envisionTEC, or Z Corp) rights to make additional prints for display at trade shows and other marketing purposes. You will be given an opportunity to place a watermark, signature, or other identifying information about yourself on the model prior to such an event. If you are a winner, you agree that T-Splines, Inc. and contest partners may use your name and likeness to administer and promote the Contest and to conduct media interviews.
